Dancer Voices

In this series, we’re featuring dancers who’ve grown up in the studio, faced the pressure, and come out stronger.

Charlotte, 18

  • Hi, I’m Charlotte Taylor, an 18-year-old performer originally from Australia, now based in the UK. I’ve been dancing since I was two, and I’ve always loved exploring movement through different styles, from musical theatre and jazz to lyrical and commercial.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to play some of my favourite characters in shows like Legally Blonde, Frozen, and Beauty & the Beast, and I’ve learned just as much from being Dance Captain as I have from performing centre stage.

Right now, I train at Monarch Studios in Surrey, and I’m passionate about using performance to tell stories that connect. I love the rehearsal room, I love the stage, and I love sharing the process with my friends along the way.

  • Q: What’s your favourite style of dance?
A: Musical Theatre Jazz. I love the storytelling, energy, and expression that come with it.

    Q: Where do you train?
    A: Monarch Studios in Surrey.

Q: What’s your dream role or project?
A: I’d love to perform on the West End one day, something bold, character-driven, and full of heart.

Q: Where can we follow you on social media?
A: @misscharlottetaylor_ on TikTok & Instagram. I regularly post about my favourite things, from dance and skincare to what it’s like being an Aussie living in London!

Elisa, 18

  • Hi, I’m Elisa! I’m an 18-year-old dancer based in the UK, with a background in gymnastics that’s shaped everything about how I move.

Transitioning from gymnastics into dance gave me a whole new kind of creative freedom. Where gymnastics taught me structure and control, dance introduced me to storytelling, musicality, and emotional expression. I’m especially drawn to jazz and acro: I love the mix of power, precision, and performance; it just feels right.

Dance has taught me more than technique. It’s helped me build resilience, take creative risks, and stay open to growing every time I step into the studio.

I currently train at Monarch Studios in Surrey, and I’m always looking to push myself further - not just physically, but artistically too.

  • Q: What’s your favourite style of dance?
A: Jazz and Acro: I love the balance between technique and power, and how much creativity there is in combining both.

    Q: Where do you train?
    A: Monarch Studios in Surrey.

Q: How did you start out with dance?
A: I started in gymnastics, which gave me strength, flexibility, and control. That foundation still shapes the way I dance today.

Q: Where can we follow you on social media?
    A: @elisahooper on Instagram
